The World Subud Association
A Javanese, Muhammad Subuh Sumohadiwidjojo (1901-1987), first received the latihan spontaneously in 1924 in Central Java. Years later he understood that he had the mission and authority to share the practice with anyone who asked for it. Today there are Subud members in 83 nations, with national organisations in 54. The active membership, still careful in the spirit of their founder not to proselytise, has remained small, with approximately 10,000 members worldwide.

Through the practice and use of the latihan, and the human activities that arise from it.
To make available the Subud spiritual exercise in which human beings can worship God directly and feel Gods power within them without an intermediary.
To enable people who practice the latihan to understand its benefits and use it in their daily lives...the latihan heightens awareness and concern for the needs of others, benefits local communities and humanity more generally.
As an umbrella organization for Subud internationally which supports the spiritual practice of Subud and the cultural, social, educational activities and entrepreneurial projects of Subud members.
The Subud organization is run democratically. There is a general meeting of the WSA member countries approximately every four years at the Subud World Congress and between congresses the World Subud Council (WSC) is responsible for ensuring the ongoing activities resolved by congress. The WSC includes the zonal representatives who are also the legal directors of the WSA, together with the chairperson. The World Subud Association has two affiliate organizations, Susila Dharma International Association (SDIA) and Subud International Cultural Association (SICA). The long term assets of the WSA and its affiliates are managed by the Muhammad Subuh Foundation (MSF).
WSA has aims in the fields of peace, social development, education, health, environment and entrepreneurship. Subud members belong to all religions and none, the WSA has a program of participating in international fora related to inter-spiritual dialogue, sustainable development and other related issues.
