History
2001, New Haven, Connecticut. AIC was founded in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001 by a diverse group of American Muslims to combat negative stereotypes and to provide an American Muslim voice in speaking out against extremism and terrorism.

We are a non-profit, anti-extremism organization that promotes civil society development and human rights and challenges increasingly negative perceptions of Muslims by advocating responsible leadership and two-way interfaith understanding.

Campaigns that are advanced through specific efforts on American campuses, via interfaith community dialogue, on Capitol Hill, within the Mideast civil rights movement, on the ground supporting Iraqi women civic leaders, and media outreach.

AIC is headquartered in Washington, D.C. with offices in Boston, Tunis, Gaziantep, Basrah, and Baghdad and employs more than 122 people around the world. 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-religious, civil society organization serving Muslims and Non-Muslims.
